Tips on Buying Cars: Title Nightmare, small claims court, dealer principal

Question
Hi,

I hope you can give me some guidance on what to do.

1.) I purchased the car from the private person.
2.) Private person that sold me the car had dealership which was closed before I even purchased the car(dealer lic expired 2 months ago)
3. I cant transfer the title to me because the title has dealership name as the owner of the car.
4. Seller of the car sold it privately even thoug the car was owned by his dealership.

DMV that deals with dealerships tells me that his dealer lic expired and thay can't help me, but instructed me to go to court.

The problem is that clerk of courts is not helpful they are not sure and nobody is giving me a straight answer but rather instructing me to get a lawyer.

The best part is that I paid the car $500 and going to lawyer will be more expensive than the whole car.

Please Help

Thanks

Answer
Ohhh this is a nasty fraud all the way , I realize it's a small amount, but fraud is fraud, if you have not already got the name and address of the dealer principal , then by some investigating on your part you should be able to obtain it.

(1) File a claim with small claims court if you got the name and address of seller, you will win hands down " Ask seller for full refund or supply title or he will be served papers.
