Tips on Buying Cars: New Car Deals for Organizations, county organization, price option

Question
I'm looking at possibly getting a new car at the end of the model year (after the winter).  Anyway, it occurred to me that as an individual, my ability to negotiate a price and service benefits is rather limited so I asked the dealer if they would consider a "better than average" deal to members of my organization in return for the advertising.  He seemed interested since this would bring in new customers not already using his shop.  What kind of a deal should I ask him for?  (My county organization has about 400 members, but if this works I'll offer it to 2 other organization with equal membership).

Answer
Great question Stephen,

In the past, I have had medium to large organizations approach me in regards to a corporate discount, etc.

I have never had an issue with going right to invoice on the purchase of a new vehicle. Giving them a discount off of a used vehicle on an already sale priced car or truck.

As far as service, I would give anywhere from 10-15% off. However, if you strike up this deal with service; I would recommend that the employee share this relationship after the service is completed.
Or, you'll have the service writer over charging to compensate for the discount.

I would take this idea of the discounts to the dealer and offer he/she the ability to do some form of advertising in your company, newsletter, paycheck stuffers, etc.

Explain to he/she that there is very little effort on their part and when one of your fellow employees' go into he/she place of business, all they have to do is show some form of identification that shows that they work there. This can be a I.D. Badge, check stub, I think you get the point.

Also, this should feel to the customer that this is a non-hassle or haggled price option for them. Once a few people purchase from the dealership and come in for service, word of mouth will travel throughout the organization like wild fire.

It's a great opportunity for the dealer and your fellow employees.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Doug
