Tires: tire sizes, cadillac sls, tire failure

My 2000 Cadillac SLS recommends tire size 235 60 16  with 30 psi

what if I mounted 225 60 16 tires?

There are a lot of good reasons not to go there - increased fuel consumption, speedometer will be off, less ground clearance - but to me the biggest reason is safety.  This direction leads to an increased risk of overloaded tire failure, which can sometimes have tragic results.
