Tires: Tire Rotations, tire rotations, rotating tires

Question
I recently bought ONE new tire for my 04" MAZDA 3 because the tire had two nails in it and needed a new tire.  The new tire was placed on the Right Rear of the car.  I asked to do a tire rotation and they said since it is a new rear tire it would not be good to do.  Is this true?  So i bascially have 1 new tire and 3 good tires.  How do I get my tire rotations done?

Answer
Vanessa,

The problem with a single new tire is that the vehicle will tend to piroette (spelling?) around that corner in some emergency situations, which is why it is recommended to replace tires in pairs.

But a bigger problem is going to be hydroplaning.  It would be bad if your vehicle hydroplaned in the rear.  This might lead to the rear end coming around.  But I also see a problem with a single new tire on the rear when the vehicle hydroplanes, but it would be worse to have both rears hydroplane.

So....Rotating tires is going to be a problem.
