My 92 Ford Mustang LX needs new tires the size of the present tires are 235 60 15 is it possible the tire size can be changed and keep the same wheel?

According to my book, a 1992 Ford Mustang came with P205/65R15's on 7" wheels inflated to 35 psi front and rear.  There were some 14" and 16" sizes, but obviously that doesn't apply.  You should find the placard on your vehicle to verify this.  If I remember correctly, the placard on your Mustang is located on the passenger's side doorpost near the striker plate.

The answer to your question is - Yes - other tire sizes will fit on those wheels, but you'll want to get tires that have at least the same (or larger) load carrying capacity.  You will also want to consider the overall diameter so your speedometer will read correctly.
