Tires: Replacement Tires, nissan sentra, quality tires

Question
Bill,
I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE with Firestone P195/55R16 tires that need replacing.  I am having difficulty finding this size and am hearing way too many different answers as to what alternative size I can use.  I live in San Diego and most of my driving is around town with some freeway.  Can you advise as to size and even maybe Brand or model recommendation?  I would really appreciate it.  Thank you.

Answer
You shouldn't have any trouble finding this size at your local tire store.  I never reccommed buying tires online because there is no warranty and even though you might pay less for the tire, you will pay more for the other services the tire stores provide.  If you go down to your local store, they should be able to find you some tires and most places are really honest.  You should be able to put on a 205/55/16 or a 205/50/16.  These tires will be a little bit wider, but should fit under your wheel wells.  I would recommend a Kelly Navigator Gold or Platinum for your aplication.  The navigator Gold has a 70K mile warranty and the Platinum has a 100K mile warranty, but is considerably more expensive.  This is one of the best quality tires on the market at a reasonable price.  It will provide a smooth quiet ride on the freeway.  Let me know if you have any more questions.
