Used Cars: buying used car, lien check, flhsmv

hi,
thanks in advance for taking my question. I am in process of purchasing a 2004 honda civic, it is private party. car was checked out, so no visible problems. we will write a standard bill of sale with as is as i know no warranty etc....my question, i will give certified funds, when we sign the title, there are spots for both of us, does it have to be notorized???? after he signs it over do i just go to motor vehicles bureau and register...a little unclear, by the way, the transaction will be doen in fort laud florida....thanks again

The title does not have to be notorized, but I recommend the bill of sale to be, here is a link that may give you further input   http://www.flhsmv.gov/dmv/buying_selling.html  

To safeguard the transaction, if it's possible go with seller to the DMV and upon transfer submit your certified funds.

I assume you did a history report along with a lien check.
