I want to start my own Car Hauling service with a Dually 350 truck and a 3to4 car trailer. How do i find out what kind of ins. and other paper work i will need? How much do i charge per car, for hauling? I want to haul from auctions and dealers. Just tell me how do i get this business rolling!!!!

Answer
Hi Robert.

Try calling the following insurance companies for what you'll need.

www.insuremyrig.com
www.truckinsure.com
www.cooperinsurance.org
www.gwccnet.com
www.sentry.com

A call to your state's Department of Transportation will get you on the right track to be legal.  They can help you get your base plate, DOT/MC number, fuel tax, etc.  Site like www.dotauthority.com can help too.

What to charge will depend on your competition.  Call around and see what they charge.  There are many variables.  What size is the vehicle? Does it run?  etc.  Most dealers have a set price that they're use to paying for transfers and auction cars.  You just have to find out what that price is and not over price yourself.  Calling your competition will be the best way to find out.

Good luck!
