Trucking: weight limits, gross vehicle weight, road atlas

What is the legal gross weight of a 1 ton truck and 40ft. gooseneck with dual 20k axles???

Chris, there are several factors that determine the maximum weight for your truck. 1. The GVW - Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. This is usually found on the VIN plate around the door frame of the truck. 2. The Legal weight that the License plate your purchase for the truck.  3. The state legal limits for the highways you will travel. - A good source for this is the "Rand McNally Motor Carrier Road Atlas" which is found at most truck stops. When I was driving, I would not leave home without one of these atlas.
