Truck Repair: prime ttruck, electric fuel pump, frame hook

Question
ok had to tank on dr, side had a leak so took that tank of had a fuel regulater on it  but bypass the regulater and went from left gas tank to gas line to carb  and to the accy hot on fuse box. you said that was a bad way to do it . what if i went from the tank to the battery  with a of and on switch? good or bad  lost don't know what to do.

1987 silveroda only way to start it is to pour gas in carb. can here the fuel pump running but know gas will come up when trying to start it

I had an 86 S-10 do that and it was because someone put a electric fuel pump on the frame & hook wire to accy side on fuse box.Took me 6 months & a motor(motor leaned out & melted a piston because fuel pressure was too low) to find the problem.If it is not something like that I dont really know.

Answer
Just hook wire to original electric fuel pump wire.Make sure the pump you have has enough pressure or you will melt a piston from leaning it out.
Problem is when you spin the engine over with the wire on the Accy side the power is turned off to it so it doesnt pump fuel.
