Vintage Cars: 79 cougar xr-7, cougar xr, walkman mp3

this isn't a major fix but i figured i would ask but i have a 1979 cougar xr-7 and i wanted to convert the 8 track into a cd player only problem is i really did not want to cut up the surrounding dash to piece the cd player in i didn't know if they make any smaller cd players or if there is a different location i could mount the cd player where it is not a driving risk or where it will stick out to much any advice or help is greatly appreciated (i want to maintain originality meaning i don't want to do anything permanent)

Personally - I'd get an fm transmitter and plug an mp3 player into it if the radio has fm (slightly unlikely in 79). I do believe an 8track adapter cassette is available, you could plug in a walkman/mp3 etc then. I'll do a bit of research and come up with some concrete options for you.
