Vintage Cars: fuel injection conversion, fuel injection conversion, ford motorcraft

Question
I have a 1976 450SL.  It was in pieces ad I have put it all back together.  I overhauled the engine and it is in the vehicle.  I replaced the CIS fuel distributor.  The motor runs, but barely.  I am tired of trying to get this to run.  I got a older intake manifold where the intake is in the center and not in the front.  I have got a ford motorcraft 2100 carb.  I want to replace the CIS with the Carburetor.  The fuel pump on the benz operates at 40-50 lbs. pressure and the Carb only requires about 6lbs. pressure.  Can I put a fuel pressure reducer on?  Any other mods I need to make? Also, I have never been able to find anybody who has done this.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Answer
that is a bold project, you can put a reducer on the line , but of more concern is the fuel delivery to the pistons and matching it with the fuel injection system. also matching the us bolt pattern to the german ( metric) bolt pattern .  I have never heard of it being done, but perhaps it can - good luck
