As your Ford Truck ages, maintenance become a fact of life. Glass repair is one of the more common tasks. Over the years, the glass in a Ford truck can be cracked, shattered, or become fogged due to impurities. Not only does this limit your visibility, it also can earn you a hefty fine from the police. Fortunately for the do-it-yourself repairman, replacing the side windows is easier than it may first appear.
Remove the armrest from the door trim panel. It is held in with two Phillips screws.
Remove the screw from the door handle, then pull it off.
Remove the window control. If you have manual windows, remove the screw and pull the handle off. If you have power windows, pry up the power window switch housing with a flathead screwdriver, unplug the wires, and remove it.
Remove the door lock control. If you have manual locks, unscrew the knob and remove it. If you have power locks, pry up the power lock switch housing, unplug the wires, and remove it.
Insert a flat head screwdriver between the door trim panel and the door frame and pry it up. You can then pull the loosened door panel off. Be careful when pulling it off because you can break the white pins underneath that holds the door panel on.
Take out the screw on the division bar. The division bar will be in the large door access hole on the right side of the door.
Take off the screws on the front edge of the door. Depending on the year of your Ford, there can be either two or three of them.
Lower the window, then pull the glass out of the retainer that is holding it.
Push the glass downward until you are able to remove it from the door.
Remove the channel that's still attacked to the glass with a Glass and Channel Removal Tool available in nearly any autoparts store.
Follow the directions in reserve for installation.
