How to Troubleshoot a Power Side View Mirror on a Ford F-350

Many Ford F-350s have power side view mirrors with turn signal lights embedded in the glass or even a heater device that melts ice and snow, allowing you to use the mirror in frigid conditions. If the mirror is not working, the issue is generally with the mirror's fuse, the mirror's wiring harness, or the mirror itself. In any of these three situations, the simplest solution is to replace the faulty aspect of the mirror, even if that means replacing the entire mirror itself. Thankfully, these parts are all fairly simple to replace.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Open the F-350's hood and remove the cover panel from the fuse block located to the right of the battery.

  • Remove the fuse in slot 59 and replace it with a new 7.5A fuse. Test the power mirrors. If they are not functioning, the issue may be with the connector.

  • Open the F-350's door and remove the ten metal clips around the inner door panel to the door with a slotted screwdriver. Pull the inner door panel off.

  • Uninstall the three bolts holding the mirror in place with a socket wrench. Pull the mirror off.

  • Pull on the side view mirror's electrical connector. If it comes off, reconnect it and test the mirror. If the mirror is still not functioning, remove the mirror from the F-350.

  • Install a replacement mirror and connect the electrical connector to the mirror. Reattach the three bolts and reattach the door panel and its clips. Close the hood.
