How to Repair a Honda Ridgeline Composite Bed

Composite materials can be used for a variety of applications, including lining truck beds. Typically, a truck bed is lined with a cement-like composite that is strong and resistant to corrosion. A common bed liner material, LINE-X, is sprayable and comes in a variety of colors. Scuffs and minor damage to this material can be completed at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Wash cloth
  • Water
  • Rough-grit sanding paper
  • Acryl-blue glazing putty
  • Putty knife
  • Fine-grit sanding paper
  • Clean off the area to be repaired with a wash cloth and water. Let the area dry before proceeding.

  • Sand the area with rough-grit sand paper. The sand paper will help the putty stick to the bed.

  • Wash the area clean with the wash cloth and water after sanding so that clean contact can be made with the putty.

  • Fill in the area with Acryl-blue glazing putty, a strong and fast drying putty that has minimal shrinkage upon drying. Using the putty knife smooth out the putty leaving the repair area level but just below the primer paint layer of the LINE-X. Let the putty dry for the time designated by the manufacturer of the putty.

  • Sand the repair area using the fine-grit sand paper.

  • Bring your truck to a LINE-X franchise. They will apply the LINE-X spray-on liner to the repair area using their special heated spray gun. The LINE-X will dry within seconds after contact and can be used as soon as you leave the shop.
