How to Mount a 85 Chevy C10 Fender

The 1985 Chevy C10 is a square body style pickup truck with simple, straight body panels. The front fender is simple and straighforward to mount. Using a few common tools and about 30 minutes of your time, you can mount an '85 Chevy C10 fender onto the truck. You can add a side marker light, fender trim and the front headlight bezel trim after you have mounted and tightened the fender into place.

Things You'll Need

  • Ratchet
  • Ratchet extension
  • Socket set
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Open the hood of the truck and place the fender against the truck. Use a ratchet and 12mm socket to install and tighten the row of three bolts along the top of the fender, inside the engine bay.

  • Open the door of the truck and look into the opening between the door and the fender, in front of the door. There is a hole near the top of the fender, between the opening. Use a ratchet, extension and 12mm socket to install and tighten a 12mm bolt into the hole. Make sure the bolt goes through the metal tab that is on the fender and into the hole on the truck.

  • Add and tighten a row of screws along the inside edge of the fender, joining the fender to the inner fender well, with a Phillips screwdriver. There are a total of 10 Phillips screws.

  • Replace the side marker light into the hole just in front of the front tire. Make sure to plug the wiring into the back of the light first. Tighten the two Phillips screws to hold the light in place.
