How to Bleed a Honda PS Pump

The power steering system on a Honda assists the driver in turning the wheels. Without power steering, even small cars can be difficult to turn. When functioning properly, the power steering pump forces fluid through the power steering lines to the steering rack. You will need to bleed the power steering pump after replacing power steering components or if air has been introduced into the system.

Things You'll Need

  • Honda power steering fluid
  • Fill the power steering reservoir to the "FULL" mark.

  • Start the engine. Allow the vehicle to warm up.

  • Turn the steering wheel from left to right several times. Each time ensure that you lightly contact the stops where the steering wheel is fully turned. This forces any air out of the system through the reservoir.

  • Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
