How to Remove Grand Prix Headlights

The Pontiac Grand Prix has a headlight assembly that is one of the simplest on the market to remove. The headlight is held in place with just a few pieces of hardware that are accessible without removing any extraneous components of the engine compartment, such as a battery or reservoir, or pieces of the bulkhead. For this reason, it shouldn't take you more than a 15 minutes to remove the headlights from your Pontiac Grand Prix.

Things You'll Need

  • Crescent wrench or 10-mm socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Turn off your Pontiac Grand Prix and prop open the hood.

  • Loosen the top screw on the headlight assembly. Do not take it out completely.

  • Remove the two 10-mm bolts holding the headlight to the mounting bracket. The bolts run vertically through the bracket just above the headlight.

  • Wiggle the end of the headlight at the turn-signal side through the fender. Press the black tab on the inner grille side away from the slot it goes through and pull the headlight out of its cavity. Do not jerk the headlight away as it is still connected to the Grand Prix by a wiring harness.

  • Turn the headlight over. Detach it from the wiring harness by pressing the side tabs on the harness and pulling it off.
