How to Remove a Ford F-150 Rear View Mirror

The rear view mirror in a Ford F-150 pickup is attached to a small steel mounting tab on the windshield. This mounting tab is affixed to the windshield with a special glass adhesive. The mirror slides onto this tab from the top and is held in place by a small steel set screw. The rear view mirror is made from hi-impact, ABS plastic. Replacement rear view mirrors are available from auto parts stores, automotive salvage yards and licensed Ford dealerships.

Things You'll Need

  • Torx screwdriver set
  • Shut down the engine and place the transmission in park (automatic) or first gear (manual). Apply the parking brake.

  • Loosen the set screw holding the mirror to the windshield mounting tab using a torx screwdriver.

  • Move the mirror up and off the mounting tab.
