How Do I Change the Radio Fuse in a 2006 GMC Envoy?

The 2006 GMC Envoy has two fuse panels to ensure that all the electrical components in the truck are protected in case of a power surge. The first fuse panel controls all of the engine's electrical components and is located in the engine compartment. The second fuse panel controls the interior and optional items. This fuse panel is located on the driver's side under the back seat. When a power surge occurs, the fuse will take the surge and break. Replacing the fuse will send power to the component but will not fix the electrical problem.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement fuse
  • Locate the fuse panel on the driver's side under the back seat. Unsnap the cover from the panel to access the fuses.

  • Find the radio fuse in slot number 41. Pull the radio fuse out with the provided fuse removal pliers.

  • Note the amperage that is written on the front of the fuse and locate a fuse with the same amperage and color. Fuses are generally purchased in an assortment of different amperages.

  • Push the replacement fuse into the slot where the old fuse was located. This will complete the circuit and provide power to the radio.

  • Push the fuse panel cover back onto the fuse panel. The cover will lock into place.

  • Insert the ignition key into the ignition. Turn the key counterclockwise to access the auxiliary power. Turn the radio on to ensure it is working.
