How do I Break Into My Pontiac Sunbird That I Locked My Keys in?

You've locked your keys into your car and you don't know what to do. Calling a locksmith can be very expensive, especially on the weekends and late at night. You can make the traditional decision and break one of the back windows, but that also costs a lot of money to replace. Here is a cheap option that can be done fairly quickly with some experience. Although you may destroy the rubber surrounding the door, it is much less expensive than having to replace a window or call a locksmith.

Things You'll Need

  • Metal coat hanger
  • Rubber or wooden doorstop
  • Using the wedge, stick it between the door and the car frame around the area of the inside door lock. Carefully separate the door and the frame to create an opening. The wedge should be pushed in far enough to where you can let go and it will stay put.

  • Place the coat hanger into the opening between the door and the frame. The type of lock you have on the inside of your car determines whether you should use the hook or the other end of the hanger.

  • Use the hook end of the hanger to wrap it around the lock and pull up. Use this step only if you have a pull-up lock.

  • Use the flat end of the hanger to push the unlock button to unlock the door. Pull the hanger out. Pull out the wedge very carefully. You do not want the door to shut on your fingers.

  • Open the car door. Make a copy of your car keys and leave them with someone in case you lock yourself out again.
