The first Ford Mustang GT (Grand Touring) model was actually an option package added to the base car in 1965. The GT package included a five-dial instrument cluster, dual exhaust and a choice between a 225 or 271 horsepower 289-cubic-inch V-8 engine. The 2006 Mustang GT carried on the tradition of performance options with a 300 horsepower V-8 engine, traction control and grille-mounted fog lamps. The electrical circuits in the 2006 GT are protected by two fuse boxes. There is a fuse panel located in the passenger compartment, as well as a power distribution box located under the hood.
Open the passenger door and move the front seat all way back. Pull the lower kick panel cover straight out, until the retaining clips release. Place the cover aside.
Pull the full box cover (revealed after removing the passenger kick panel) straight off. Remove the white plastic fuse puller from the inside of the cover and place the cover aside.
Locate the blown fuse, which may have a burnt appearance. Use a flashlight and scan over all the fuses in the box to search for the one that has a broken wire inside its transparent plastic casing.
Spread the arms of the fuse puller apart slightly and slide it over the end of the fuse you want to remove, until it snaps into place. Squeeze the arms of the fuse puller together to grip the fuse and pull it straight out of the fuse box.
Obtain a replacement fuse of exactly the same amperage, color and size as the old fuse.
Push the new fuse back into the original cavity in the fuse box until it is fully seated. Push the fuse puller back into the holder, inside the fuse box cover. Push the cover back over the fuse box, until its snaps into place.
Push the kick panel cover back into position, until is snaps into place.
