The DEH-5100UB by Pioneer Electronics is an aftermarket car stereo featuring a CD player, 7-band graphic equalizer, detachable faceplate, remote control and a USB port that allows for MP3 player connectivity. The DEH-5100UB is HD radio ready, satellite radio ready and Bluetooth ready. Expanding your vehicle's sound system to include external amplifiers can be accomplished through three sets of RCA preamp outputs. The DEH-5100UB also features a clock and 18 FM station presets that rely on an accessory power source to keep them in memory. If the DEH-5100UB is not wired to an accessory power source, the clock and station presets will reset every time you shut off your vehicle.
Locate the vehicle's battery. Disconnect the black negative battery cable using an adjustable wrench.
Remove the plastic bezel that surrounds the Pioneer DEH-5100UB using a panel removal tool to pry it gently away from the dashboard. Remove the screws that secure the stereo in place using a screwdriver. Slide the stereo forward until the wires are exposed.
Locate the vehicle's blue accessory wire behind the stereo. Remove 1/4 inch of the wire's plastic protective coating using a Klein tool. Locate the blue accessory wire coming from the rear of the Pioneer DEH-5100UB. Wrap the bare wire end of the wire around the exposed section on the vehicle's accessory wire. Wrap the connection with electrical tape.
Slide the stereo back into place. Secure the stereo with the screws removed earlier. Replace the plastic bezel by pressing it into place. Reattach the negative battery cable.
