Although production for the Cadillac Eldorado ended after the 2002 model year, there are still plenty of them on the road. Some owners may wish to customize their cars by installing a upgraded sound system. In order to do this, you'll need to remove the car's factory radio. In the Eldorado, removal of the automatic shift knob is necessary to create enough clearance for the radio.
Inspect the front part of the El Dorado's shift knob. You'll see a small metal clip. Insert the flat screwdriver into the clip. Gently pry it out. This allows you to remove the shift knob. Lift the shift knob up to remove it.
Remove the three Phillips screws from the ashtray. There is one screw on each side and one in the center. These screws help hold the radio panel to the dash.
Insert the flat screwdriver between the radio-switch panel and the radio (the switch panel is the panel right above the radio). Pry outward to unhook the switch panel.
Remove the four Phillips screws holding the radio setup in place. Slide the setup out. Unplug the connections from the back.
Remove the six nuts from the side of the setup with the socket wrench. These nuts connect the radio to the climate control panel. Slide the radio out of the setup when the nuts are removed.
