How to Install a Kicker Comp VR 12

The Kicker Comp VR 12 subwoofer is a popular choice for car audio enthusiasts. This subwoofer is designed to create high-quality, low-toned sounds when properly installed in a car audio system. Installing a subwoofer is one of the easier parts of customizing your car's audio system and can save you plenty of money as opposed to paying a professional to install it. Prior to installation, make sure that you have a sturdy, well-built subwoofer box that is designed to fit a 12-inch subwoofer.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 Two-foot-long sections of speaker wire
  • Wire stripper
  • Kicker Comp VR 12
  • Subwoofer box
  • 1.5-inch metal screws
  • Screwdriver
  • Connect one of the sections of speaker wire to the terminal cup on the inside of the subwoofer box. Speaker wire actually consists of two individual wires contained in a rubber or plastic sheath. Attach one of these wires to the positive terminal and the other to the negative terminal.

  • Connect the other ends of the speaker wire to the back of the subwoofer. Make sure that the wire that is connected to the positive terminal of the terminal cup is connected to the positive terminal of the subwoofer.

  • Place the subwoofer into the opening of the subwoofer box and secure it using a screwdriver and your 1.5-inch metal screws.

  • Attach the second section of speaker wire to the side of the terminal cup that is located on the outside of the subwoofer box. Attach the other end of this wire to the speaker terminal on the amplifier. Once again, make sure that the positive wire is connected only to positive terminals while the negative wire is connected only to the negative terminals.
