How to Install Speakers in a Ford F150

Wiring a car stereo is only half the battle. You want to make sure the car stereo has a good sound when you are ready to crank up the volume or at least provide a smooth, rich sound for your favorite songs. Ford trucks are usually already pre-bored for speakers. You can change out the speakers in no time. The wires usually are already crimped and come with the proper connection so the only thing left to do is change it out. In some rare cases you might have to splice in a wire or make new holes for the mounting screws.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wire crimper
  • Tape measure
  • Speaker

Installing a Speaker in Your Ford Truck

  • Measure the area where the speaker is to be installed. The measurement should give you an idea of the size of speaker to use.

  • Connect the wires from the vehicle to the jack on the back of the speaker. The speaker wire will plug directly into the back of the speaker.

  • Place the speaker in the selected spot. The speaker should mount directly from the mounting screws of the speaker to the selected spot on the car.

  • Tighten the speaker to the frame by screwing in the bolts from the speaker to the door. They should mount in the existing pre-bored hole..

  • Place the speaker grill over the speaker and push it in. The grill should cover the speaker entirely.
