Instructions for a Windstar Remote Starter

Most Ford vehicles, including the Windstar, come equipped with keyless entry remote starter capabilities. This technology allows you to access your car's engine from within your house or across the street or parking lot. You can start your car for as long as 10 minutes at a time to warm it up during winter.

Programming the Remote

  • Enter your car with your Windstar remote and insert your key into the car's ignition.

  • Turn the key in the ignition from the "Off" position to the "Run" position eight times in 10 seconds.

  • End in the "Run" position and wait for the locks to click after the eighth cycle.

  • Press and hold any button on your remote within 20 seconds.

  • Hold the button for about 30 seconds until the locks click again and the programming will be completed.

Using the Remote

  • Press the Lock button on your remote until the locks click, and then press and hold the starter button until the car starts. It will then remain started for up to 10 minutes.

  • Press the Lock button again and hold the Starter button to turn off the auto-start while the ignition is on.

  • Press the Lock button and hold the Starter button to start the engine for another 10 minutes after the ignition has stopped.

  • Enter your car and insert your ignition key to start the car or stop the car when the ignition is on.
