Scion Xb Fog Light Installation

The Scion line of vehicles was designed by Toyota to be customizable from the factory. As a result, Toyota and Scion sell a wide variety of aftermarket accessories for these cars, including fog lights. Because the Scion xB is customizable, installing a set of fog lights in the car is a fairly straightforward affair. Installing the lights in the bumper should take about an hour to do, and requires just a few basic tools.

Things You'll Need

  • 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket set
  • Open-end wrench set
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Nylon pry bar
  • Masking tape
  • Fog light kit
  • Reach underneath the front bumper and push out the plastic knock-out panel located on the bumper next to the front grille. Locate the wiring harness connections that's tied up underneath the bumper and pull the harness plug through the hole in the bumper.

  • Install the fog light bracket kit from the fog light kit onto the back of the foglight with your hands. Plug the wiring into the back of the fog light, then push the fog light assembly into the bumper until it clicks in place.

  • Open the passenger door. Open the glove box and push in the sides of the door to free the stops from the glove box, letting it hang down. Pull the box off of the hinges and put it to the side. Reach through the glove box hole with your right hand and reach behind the climate control panel in the middle of the dash. Push the knock out cover located on the left side of the dash out of the dashboard and put it to the side.

  • Locate the bundled harness behind the climate control panel. Pull off the harness and run it through the knock out panel on the dash. Plug the fog light switch from the kit into the harness and push it into the dash to lock it into place. Pull out the instrument panel box located on the driver's side of the dashboard just below the steering column and pull it out of the dash with your hands.

  • Unplug the harness from the relay block behind the instrument panel box using the flathead screwdriver. Install the relay box from the kit into the harness with your hands. Reinstall the relay block on the box.
