How to Make Your Car Whistle

Your car may be able to accelerate quickly and look the part, but does it sound the part? Many car enthusiasts love the whistle that a turbo engine makes when roaring away down the road. For those without turbo power but in love with the sound, you can fake it with the right piece of equipment. Turbo whistler devices, often referred to as "fake turbocharger muffler exhaust kits," are available from online retailers. They are typically aluminum devices that measure about 3 inches long and produce the fake turbo sound.

  • Position the turbo whistler device on the bottom lip of your exhaust . The whistling device must be above the lip of the exhaust pipe; if it is below the lip, it won't work.

  • Push the clasp into place and tighten the provided screw to a secure fit.

  • Start the engine of your car and rev. You will now hear a distinctive whistling sound coming from the exhaust of your car that sounds like a turbocharged engine.
