How to Install a Leveling Kit on a Nissan Titan

Most cars and trucks are designed with a slight rake in their stance, meaning that the rear end is a bit higher than the front. That's because whenever a car gets loaded down with weight, be it passengers or cargo, the car becomes physically level and doesn't drag the rear end. In the case of the Nissan Titan, it is common to level the truck by lifting the front end. Fortunately, this is an easy install and doesn't take more than a few tools and 30 minutes to perform.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
  • Open-end wrench set
  • Tire iron
  • Leveling kit
  • Jack the front end of the vehicle in the air and support it by the frame with jack stands. Be sure the vehicle is secure before crawling underneath it.

  • Remove the front wheels using the tire iron. Set the wheels to the side to make sure they're out of the way.

  • Unbolt the top of the strut from the frame using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set. You may need to use an open-end wrench to access some of the bolts.

  • Pull down the front suspension using your hands and pull the strut out of the tower. It should pivot on the bottom and allow you to access it.

  • Bolt the leveling kit to the strut using the factory bolts and the 3/8-inch ratchet. Make sure everything is tight.

  • Pull the front suspension down with your hands again and push the strut with leveling kit into the factory strut mount.

  • Bolt the strut into place using the supplied bolts using the 3/8-inch ratchet.

  • Bolt the tires back onto the vehicle using the tire iron and lower the vehicle off of the jack stands with the jack. The job is now complete.
