Fender flares are an option on many heavy-duty trucks. The flare extends out over the wheel, which usually protrudes out of the wheel well. The flare covers the wheel and prevents dirt and road debris from kicking up onto the side of the truck. Some individuals do not like the looks of the fender flares, however, and remove them. Since most fender flares are simply bolted to the body, they can be removed.
Locate the fender flare bolts for the front fender flares. They will be either on the outside of the fender flare or underneath the flare, inside the wheel well.
Loosen and remove the bolts holding the driver's side fender flare onto the body of the vehicle. There may be anywhere from four to eight bolts depending on the make and model of truck you have. To loosen, place the appropriate-sized socket on the socket wrench and put the wrench on the bolt. Turn counterclockwise to loosen.
Pull the fender flare off after you have removed the bolts. This should come right off. If this is your first time removing your flares, however, it may be stuck onto the wheel well due to the plastic flare being held tightly against the vehicle body for a long period of time. Give it a good tug, and it will come right off.
Repeat the process outlined in Steps 1 to 3 for the passenger side front and then both of the rear fender flares on your vehicle.
