How to Make More Power on a Katana 600

The Suzuki Katana 600 comes with a good amount of power for a great price, and has made many lists of top bikes. Several modifications, however, can be made to boost its performance. These upgrades are relatively inexpensive and some can even be done without the assistance of a mechanic. The rewards for these minor enhancements are great and will lead to a noticeable increase in power, performance and, in some cases, handling and gas mileage.

Things You'll Need

  • OEM Suzuki oil filter
  • Synthetic racing oil
  • Dynojet Jet Kit
  • OEM dual exhaust system
  • Remove your old oil filter (it is located near the oil pan--turn it counter clockwise with a wrench to remove it) and replace it with a new OEM Suzuki oil filter.

  • Drain the oil by removing the drain plug on the oil pan (turn it counter clockwise), and replacing the drain plug after the engine has emptied.

  • Add the synthetic racing oil by removing the "add engine oil" cap on top of the engine and filling the engine with the new oil.

  • Have a mechanic install the Dynojet jet kit. This will help improve acceleration.

  • Have a mechanic replace your stock exhaust with the OEM dual exhaust system.
