In 1993, the Nissan Maxima had a pair of 3.0-liter V-6 engines available. In its base GXE trim level, this engine was a 12-valve, OHC design that produced 160 horsepower and 182 foot-pounds of torque. The SE model used a 24-valve, DOHC version that pumped out 30 more horsepower and eight additional foot-pounds. Both engines used the same type of antifreeze.
Nissan recommended using a standard ethylene-glycol-based -- green -- antifreeze in the 1993 Nissan Maxima. The recommended mixture of antifreeze and clean, clear water was 70 percent water to 30 percent antifreeze .
