How to Install Instructions for Viper Auto Alarms

Viper car alarm systems can help keep your car safe from thieves. Installing one of these systems is fairly easy if you have any understanding of car electrical systems. There are twelve wires you will use in your installation. Some of these are spliced with other wires while others are simply grounds for the system. Only install the system if you feel comfortable with the procedure. Otherwise you should go to a professional car mechanic or alarm installer to avoid any risk of damage to your car.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdrivers
  • Screws
  • Electrical tape
  • Strippers
  • Alarm wiring harness
  • Connect the red and white wire to the trunk release button wire. Scrape the plastic coating off both wires and place the exposed wires on each other. Tape them together with the electrical tape.

  • Remove the fuse from the red wire and attach it directly to the positive power terminal on your car battery. This will provide your alarm with 12V of power. Use a small nut to hold the wire in place on the terminal.

  • Screw your siren to the bottom of your hood. Keep this near the wiring harness to avoid stretching wires. Splice the brown wire from the wiring harness to the red wire on your siren. Ground the siren by placing the black siren wire under a screw attached to your hood.

  • Find the yellow harness wire from your harness and attach it to the positive ignition wire. Use your wire scrapers and electrical tape to splice them together.

  • Place the black harness wire's metal ring terminal around a metal screw in your hood and screw it back into place. This will ground the alarm system when it is not armed. Make sure there are no wires underneath any of the screws for your ground wires.

  • Splice the purple harness wire with the positive wire for your dome light wire. Complete the circuit by splicing the green harness wire with the negative wire for your dome light. Plug the black and white harness wire directly into the dome light circuit.

  • Connect the blue harness wire to the sensor pins for your hood and trunk. These attach by wrapping around the sensor pin with a screw driver.

  • Wrap electrical tape around the end of the white and blue wire and tape it to the hood. It is only used if you install new devices, such as extra sirens. Splice the white wire with the parking light relay switch wire. Place the ring terminal of the orange wire around a screw in your hood and screw it back into place.
