How to Change CR-V Wiper Inserts

The wiper blade inserts on a Honda CR-V are the rubber parts of the vehicle's wiper blades. The wiper blade insert connects to the wiper blade, which connects to the CR-V's wiper arm. You can either replace the entire wiper blade, or you can simply replace the insert. The rubber insert is the part that receives the most wear and tear, because it rubs against the windshield when in use.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement wiper blade insert
  • Turn the CR-V's wiper switch off, and then turn the engine off. Make sure the hood is closed and approach the wiper arms.

  • Lift the driver's side wiper arm first, and then lift the passenger's side arm, regardless of which blade you are replacing.

  • Push the plastic lock tab in the center of the wiper blade. While pushing the tab, slide the wiper blade away from the CR-V's wiper arm to remove it.

  • Grasp the rubber part of the wiper blade. This is the blade insert. Pull it out of the wiper blade. Dispose of it.

  • Slide the new wiper blade insert into the wiper blade. Push it in firmly.

  • Slide the wiper blade back onto the wiper arm. Line up the plastic lock tab with the connection on the wiper arm. Push the blade downward firmly. You'll hear it snap as it connects.

  • Repeat the process for the other side, if necessary, and then push the wiper arms down to their normal position.
