Replacing the bulbs in your trailer is essential to make your trailer visible to oncoming traffic. There are some areas that you may also get ticketed for operating faulty equipment. Replacing the light should only take a matter of minutes and will save you time and money in the long run. The owner's manual on your trailer will mention that before hauling the trailer with your truck you should perform a walk around inspection. This inspection will call for checking faulty trailer lights.
Locate the bad bulb in the trailer. Turn on the interior lights in the trailer and observe which bulb is not working.
Pry the protective lens off the light with a flathead screwdriver. The lens will pop out as it is not held in by screws.
Pull the light bulb out of the assembly by popping it out of the assembly. In some cases, the bulb will need to be rotated counter-clockwise and then pulled out.
Match the old bulb with a bulb with the same part number. You can take the bulb to a parts store to find the correct replacement bulb.
Push the new bulb in the housing. Ensure the metal ends make contact with each side. If the bulb is the kind that twists, then you will need to place it in the holder and push down while turning clock-wise. The bulb will lock in place.
Snap the cover back over the light assembly. The cover will protect the bulb.
