If you've got a broken door lock on your Volkswagen Jetta or Golf MK III, or you just wish to install a new exterior door handle, then you're in luck. Volkswagen made the MK III door handles a breeze to remove. There's an external screw on the door enabling the home mechanic to get right to removing the door handle, rather than removing the entire door panel like in other vehicles.
Open the door that you wish to remove the door handle on. There is a screw aligned right next to the door handle. This is the nut you'll need to remove.
Use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the screw.
Slide the door handle towards the front of the car. Once it slides as far it can go, then pull it out.
