How to Replace an Air Filter in a Plymouth Voyager

The air filter cleans the air the is delivered to the unit. A clean filter allows air to flow without restriction, improving both gas mileage and engine life. The air filter on a Plymouth Voyager should be changed every 30,000 miles, or every 3,000 when it is driven under extremely dusty conditions. Changing the filter will take the average person 10 minutes.

  • Turn the Voyager off to avoid risk of injury due to engine backfires while the filter is being changed. Leave the car off until the task has been completed.

  • Lift the hood of the Voyager. Locate the air filter housing unit on the passenger driver's side of the car, it is sandwiched between the battery and the engine. Look for a round, black plastic box.

  • Open the lid on the air filter housing unit by loosening the clips that hold it in place. Slide the lid off of the unit.

  • Remove the old filter from the housing unit. Remove any large pieces of debris Wipe the inner and outer surfaces of the housing unit with a damp cloth.

  • Place the new air filter in the housing unit. Use a K&N air filter, part number 33-2087, for an Plymouth Voyager manufactured from 1996 to 2000. Locate older and newer Voyager air filters online or at your local auto supply store.

  • Replace the lid on the housing unit. Secure the lid in place by reattaching the clips.
