How do I Install a Rear Power Sliding Window in a Dodge RAM?

Power windows are a convenience that many vehicles have, including Dodge Rams. However, you want to make sure they're installed properly and working at all times for safety's sake.

Remove Door Panel

  • Only one screw and one torx screw hold the rear sliding door of a Dodge Ram on. Remove the two screws and the door handle will pop off. Lift the door and it will come off without much hassle.

Install Motor

  • Hold the motor in place where you wish to install it while testing different riser and driver gears. You want the riser (larger gear) to be as small as possible while still getting a good grip onto the window spline and only one driver gear fits that riser. Strap the motor to the inside of the door.

Switch and Window Installation

  • Run the motor 12-volt wire to the ignition wire and the ground wire to the chassis. Run the switch "up" button to the motor's 12-volt wire and the "down" switch wire to the motor's ground wire. If an extra wire exits, it will be for illumination. Run that wire to the Ram's parking light wire. Finally, loosen the screws of the window bracket, place the bottom of the window into the bracket and tighten the screws.
