My Infinity Sunroof Won't Close

Infiniti is a brand of luxury vehicles manufactured and sold by Nissan. The line of high-end vehicles includes sports coupes, sedans and full-size SUVs. Depending on the automobile and package, owners have the option of purchasing a sunroof, more commonly called a moonroof by Infiniti. To open and close the moonroof, owners push a switch in the overhead console. The vehicle must be in the correct position and free of dirt and mechanical failure for the moonroof to close.

  • Turn the car on. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the car to the "On" position. The car must be on to close the moonroof.

  • Check the doors. All doors must be completely closed to close the moonroof.

  • Check for dirt and objects stuck in the moonroof frame. If the moonroof detects something caught inside the moonroof, it will not close.

  • Push and hold the "Close" switch in the overhead console. Typically, the switch only has to be pushed once and released to close the moonroof. If the switch becomes tripped up, hold the switch down manually to fully close the moonroof.

  • Take your vehicle into an authorized Infiniti dealer or mechanic. There may be a mechanical failure. An authorized mechanic has the expertise and tools to fix a moonroof on an Infinity vehicle.
