How to Reset the Maintenance Required Light on a 2007 Toyota Tacoma

The 2007 Toyota Tacoma is equipped with a maintenance reminder system that illuminates a notification light on the dash when service is due. The computer tracks internal engine conditions to calculate when each regular maintenance should be performed. When the service is complete, the maintenance required light should be reset so the computer can accurately track the correct interval until the next service. A Toyota dealer will most likely reset the maintenance light if it performs the maintenance. Otherwise, you can reset the system yourself.

  • Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position. Press the odometer reset button repeatedly until the total mileage reading is displayed.

  • Turn the ignition to "Off."

  • Press the odometer reset button and hold it down.

  • Turn the ignition switch to "On." Do not start the engine.

  • Let go of the odometer reset button after a few dashes appear in the display and then disappear. The maintenance light resets.
