The Accord received a major overhaul in 1998, so the 1999 model year saw only minor changes like upgraded seat material and standard folding mirrors. The 1999 Accord had a pair of engine options: the 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 135 horsepower and the 3.0-liter V-6 with 200 ponies. Both engines used the same weight of engine oil, but their capacities varied slightly.
Honda recommends using API-certified 5W-30 engine oil in any outside temperature, but the manufacturer also says that you can use 10W-30 oil if the outside temperature will not fall below -20 degrees F. When changing the oil and filter, the four-cylinder engine requires 4.5 quarts of oil, while the V-6 needs 4.6 quarts of oil to fill it.
