The information center on the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu notifies you when your car is due for an oil change, helping you keep your engine in the best condition possible. When you take your car to a repair center to change the oil, the technician will reset the system. If you complete the oil change at home, you need to reset the monitoring system to clear the oil change alert on the display panel.
Insert the key into the Malibu's ignition. Turn the key to the "On" position.
Press the "Menu" button on the display panel repeatedly until "Oil Life Reset" appears on the display.
Press and hold "Enter" until the display screen shows "Acknowledged" to complete the reset process.
Turn the key to "Off" and remove it.
