Wireless Racing Tools - Ditch The Cables (And Air Hose)

These days it seems that everything is going wireless, cordless, or cableless. Following that trend, Longacre Racing has three new tools for serious race teams that do away with cords, cables, and hoses-and save tons of time in the process.

Cordless Pit Gun
Check out the top teams in your pits; chances are they probably have two or three cordless battery powered impact pit guns. The one shown here from Longacre Racing has 300 ft-lb of torque, a variable-speed trigger to get nuts started without cross threading, an LED work light for the dark side of the car, and comes with two batteries and a fast charger. It even comes with a lug-nut socket, two extensions, and a carrying case. There is also an optional 12-inch extended lug-nut socket for deep wheels.

Computer Scales
Scales, you gotta have them! Recently, the wireless versions have gotten more popular as their prices have come down. AccuSet Wireless Scales from Longacre are based on their popular wired version. The controls are simple to operate. Just set them up, turn them on, and push a button to get either wheel weights or all partial percents. Nothing complicated, no thick instruction manual needed. And no cables!

Each pad has a wireless transmitter built inside that communicates with the control box. It operates on the latest 2.3 gHz 80215.4 DSSS protocol that is very resistant to EM interference and is virtually "unhackable." Walk anywhere around the car and the display is solid. The batteries should last a year or more in normal use so there is no need for weekly recharging.

Portable Lightweight Air Tank
Look in any pit or garage around the country and you'll find that these are quite common. Longacre's air tank is an ultra-lightweight model designed specifically for racing. It has a special Fast-Fill valve that lets you refill the tank in 15 seconds or less (with a good air pressure source). You don't need to use a tire chuck-that limits the refill speed. You connect your air hose directly to this special valve. Push the button and air flows directly into the tank as fast as your quick change fittings will allow. This timesaving feature makes using the tank instead of an air hose for filling tires a much better choice. Plus, this tank has a sharp looking polished finish that will never corrode. It is available as a tank only or with special analog or digital filler tire gauges that make filling tires faster yet.

With these three products, all air hoses and scale cables are gone from not only your shop but the pit area as well. No one is tripping over them and the work gets done much more quickly and conveniently. It puts the fun and convenience back in working on the car and gives you more time to try new things that could improve your lap times. What's not to like?
