Summit Racing Carburetor - Sometimes More Really Is Better!

As most of you folks have already determined, I'm pretty much a fan of old-school hot rodding-whether it's in the classic truck, pre-'48 hot rod, or motorcycle realm. You're more likely to see me building and driving relatively low-tech traditional-styled vehicles of either the two- or four-wheeled variety than you would a fuel-injected, billet aluminum, trinket laden one. It's not because I'm opposed to technical advancement, trends, or change in general mind you, it's just that for me simplicity is a personal preference.

When it comes to drivelines my preferences are the same-the more traditional the setup the better I like it. And there's no traditional induction setup I like more than a trio of two-barrels. The last Tri-power-equipped truck I owned was a '29 Model A closed-cab much like the one I drive now. That one was equipped with a swap meet three-Deuce setup that had seen better days-but it was the best I could afford at the time. Still, it looked awesome and worked well enough for what I had invested in it. Recently while perusing my latest Summit Racing Equipment catalog I stumbled across their new Three-Deuce Combo package (PN SUM-CSUM1900) and it reignited my interest in Tri-power induction.

In all honesty, it was the price point that really grabbed my attention-the Summit setup retails for the extremely fair price of $2,262! That's for a completely new package that includes an aluminum intake, carbs, air cleaner assemblies, and progressive linkage! Heck, that wasn't all that much more than the well-used setup I'd purchased a few years ago! And, the real bonus of the Summit combo is that it uses high-quality Holley 2300-series carbs (a 350-cfm primary and a pair of 325-cfm secondaries) rather than the old Rochester's my old one did. That said, I decided that I wasn't going to pass this one up and ended up ordering one for the early small-block Chevy I was building for a future project.

About a week later I came home from the office to find UPS had dropped off my latest Summit purchase and I proceeded to unpack it and get right to work-I figured my other projects could wait another day. So take a look at this affordable, high-quality Summit setup going together in my garage-I think you'll be impressed (with the three-Deuce setup, not my garage), if so you can check out the combo yourself via the Summit Racing website-I don't think you'll find an equivalent at a fairer price.
