Auto Insurance Claims: making claim against two companies?, personal insurance company, auto accident

Question
My son was in an auto accident which resulted in his car being totaled. He was
hit from behind on our local highway. My question is this....He was hit by a
gentleman driving a company truck. Can we file a claim with the company's
insurance (truck) as well as the gentleman's personal insurance company?
The police report show's that this gentleman was 100% at fault.

Answer
Hi Colleen,

Auto insurance follows the vehicle not the driver. So only the insurance that covers the truck would apply in this case. The drivers personal insurance would not be available since he was not driving his car.

I hope this helps
