Auto Insurance Claims: lou, registration fees, 5 months

Hi, my car was totaled. I paid the vehicle annual registration fees about $50. It still has 5 months for renewal at the time of the accident. Is it correct that the insurance should compensate me unused registration fees $25 as well as the transfer fees for the new registration $50 assuming the replacement vehicle will be the same year, make and model of my totaled car? Hi Lou,

The insurance company would owe you for the transfer fee but not for the balance of the annual fee. The reason is because it is assumed that you will replace the vehicle and would have owed that money anyway.
