Auto body repair & detailing: PPG Primer, ppg products, paint sprayer

Question
Hi,
I have been looking on the internet and even contacted PPG looking for a high-build 2k white primer that is either rollable or brushable, but have had no luck in finding any. I was wondering if this kind of primer exists, or what other primer I could use without using a paint sprayer? Also, where do you go to purchase PPG products? Are there authorized retailers of any sort or would I have to order it online? I am in Spokane, WA if it is any help. And one last thing, are you able to spray clear coat over existing clear coat, or does all the old clear coat need to be removed before the new clear coat is applied?
Thanks alot

Answer
Hi Dan,

PPG doesn't make a white rollable primer. They only have recommendations for K36 (which is gray) as a rollable primer and it's only designed to be used for spot priming. For large areas it really should be sprayed on so that it dries evenly and thoroughly.

PPG products are only sold thru authorized retailers. To find one near you go to www.ppgrefinish.com and use the jobber locator on this page.

Clear-coat can be applied over an existing clear-coat provided the existing clear still has good adhesion. If it is flaking and peeling off, it's recommended that you remove the existing clear. Also, before applying clear over clear you will need to sand the existing clear with 800-1000 grit.
