Auto body repair & detailing: solvent smell, rear quarter panel, body guys

Question
My 2005 Pathfinder was repaired after a side-rear collision that required replacement of the rear quarter panel and liftgate. When we got the car back (in September), there was a really strong solvent smell in the car. The shop told me that is was probably the rustproofing they used, that it would eventually go away, and that it was worse because of the heat. Well, it went away once it got cold but now that it is warming up again it is coming back. Auto body guys are probably used to it but it gives me a headache and I'm not entirely comfortable with what this may be doing to my 10-month-old daughter's brain development. Is this  ongoing smell problem normal? I was hoping to get my car back in the condition it was before the accident, not to have an ongoing problem with the car. Any info you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
You have a valid concern I would take it back to the shop that preformed the repairs and tell them that the smell is to overwhelming for you they may be able to seal up the under coating using a under coating that hardens and dries. Or bake it a couple times in the bake booth paint booth and then use a air purifier to remove the smell. They should do something because I know the smell you speak of and it is stinky.
