Auto body repair & detailing: Paint finishing, grass hopper, 3m machine

Question
I am new at this but I am tring to fix up a few pretty good scratches on my Toyota. I have it pretty well painted but have a question on rubbing the paint out to get a shine before waxing. I am using an acrylic enamel with I guess you would call metalic paint. There are gold specks in it. After painting what are the procedures for rubbing the new paint out? Thanks Ed

Answer
Water sand with 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper and sand out the dirt specks don't sand to much. After water sanding the car with 1500 grit sand with 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper lots of water. You than buff the whole car with 3M heavy duty rubbing compound use the tan foam waffle pad buff until scratches are gone. Then use 3M machine glaze with a gray foam waffle pad buff until swirls are gone. Then hand rub the car with a very soft cloth 3M makes a very good polish cloth. Be careful not to burn the paint on the edges of the fenders, doors, hood, etc.
